Sitta europaea<\/em>, commonly known as the Eurasian Nuthatch, is a woodpecker-like climbing bird with a sturdy, straight beak. Its upper body is grayish-blue, while the underparts are light with brown flanks. It has a white throat and a black eye stripe on its head. The Nuthatch can reach a body length of up to 14 cm. In Germany, it is a resident bird and inhabits forests, parks, and gardens. Nests are built in tree cavities, with the entrances often reduced in size by a mud wall (Schaefer 2018).<\/p>\n

Diet:<\/strong> The Nuthatch primarily feeds on spiders, insects, and their larvae. During winter, it also includes seeds in its diet (Schaefer 2018).<\/p>\n

Threat Status:<\/strong> Sitta europaea<\/em> is listed as “least concern” in both the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and the Red List of Germany.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div> <\/section>\n \n\n
